Hakka Tea House: Old Stories Xie Xin Tea House is a restaurant operated on a contract basis by our local community. It was originally the teachers’ dormitory of Shishan Elementary School. Later, inspired by the concept of “Rest with a Wild Heart, Rest is Enlightenment,” and combined with a traditional sloped roof design, it was renovated into a Hakka-style tea house. With a brand‑new appearance, it presents itself to visitors, blending the elegant tea house architecture with the surrounding scenery, allowing people to rest both physically and mentally. Upon entering the tea house, beside the counter you can see lanterns and parasols made from Hakka embroidered cloth, as well as a dazzling array of tea utensils. The stairwell is adorned with interesting Hakka proverbs. Through displays of Hakka artifacts and meals, local stories are told. Savoring the local Hakka flavors Besides the ancient‑style Hakka décor, Xie Xin Tea House also offers personal light meals, Hakka vegetarian dishes, and shared plates. The white rice bowls are filled with high‑mountain vegetables, Hakka stir‑fries, and sliced meat, among other rich dishes—just looking at them is mouth‑watering, and visitors who have tasted the food praise it endlessly. A tranquil afternoon is perfect for a stroll along the nearby Liu Liao Ancient Trail or Fengping Trail. When you’re tired, sit in the outdoor dining area, brew a pot of iced drip “Eastern Beauty” tea paired with handmade Hakka mochi. Occasionally glancing at the distant mountains adds another flavor to the experience.
