The restoration of monuments is more than just a practical project at the technical level. It is also a cross disciplinary knowledge dialogue. The lecture focuses on the key role of traditional craftsmen in the stage of monument investigation and research. Chen Chi-wei, a craftsman, will share his experience and observation. We will see how craftsmen transform from “practicers” to “investigators” by analyzing real cases, and how they assist in determining the key points of restoration work with their keen eyes and practical experiences, to keep the deep memory of cultural heritages.
