The Zhentou Village in Chiayi City has made remarkable achievements in its environmental and ecological transformation over the years. The old railway of Taiwan Sugar Corporation has been transformed into a community bicycle path. The wax trees on both sides of the path are home to numerous herds of rhinoceros beetles, which is a delightful surprise. The reintroduction of rhinoceros beetles is not easy. The Zhentou community has improved the water quality, environment, planted wax trees, and built a bicycle path to create a suitable living environment for the beetles. Every year, around the middle of May, the rhinoceros beetles emerge from the soil, searching for mates to propagate their offspring. Hundreds of these beetles congregate on the wax trees, displaying various poses, and even engaging in battles, creating a breathtaking scene. The rhinoceros beetle is often referred to as the "Iron Armored Knight." The event, "Tracking the Rhinoceros Beetle," takes place from mid-May to the end of June every year, and visitors are welcome to bring their families to experience the wonders of nature and revisit childhood memories. It is worth mentioning that in 2017, the Chiayi City Government organized the "First Golden Rural Competition," and the Zhentou Village community emerged as the winner, earning the title of a "Golden Rural."
