Hidden within the market, the former Dinglin Zai Bian Police Administrative Office is a historical structure in LinYuan. Established since Meiji Year 31 (1898) and still standing today, combined with its location within LinYuan's bustling market, it was also the first official government office ever built in this area. Constructed during the Japanese colonial period, the architecture primarily follows traditional Japanese-style housing. Key structures include accommodations, gardens, an old well, an air-raid shelter, and a water tower for daily life use. The police office building itself is a brick-and-wood hybrid Japanese-style architecture; photographs taken there often create a mistaken illusion of being in a miniature Kyoto. Inside, it presents introductions about local specialties such as LinYuan's renowned pickled onions and grouper, along with explanations of the building techniques used for the police dormitory. Due to its distinctly Japanese architectural flavor, many have specially come to this site for photography, and it remains widely popular among the younger generation.
