“Miling’an” means “storytelling” in the Paiwan language. Rooted in the ancestral spirit of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples—the reverence among ancestors, land, and humanity—it gently reminds contemporary society of the importance of humility, gratitude, and caring for the earth. Miling’an is never a single, isolated performance; each presentation, spiritually or materially, links past to present. Paiwan people, songs, and language, continually internalizing ancestral wisdom and life stories, connect modern perspectives and issues so that this land’s tales will be told and sung by every generation. Led by Paiwan soul singer Lacing (Best Traditional & Artistic Vocalist, 15th Golden Melody Awards) and producer Hu Jian, the troupe has long run the intimate “Miling’an Musical Theatre” in Xindian, integrating performing arts with indigenous culture. Every Friday and Saturday the “Miling’an Lakeside Musical” is performed regularly at the Folio Lohas Spa Resort, No. 3 Yanti, Wulai District, New Taipei City.
