Upon reaching Jiupeng along the coastal highway, the main feature is the Jiupeng sand dunes. To proceed to Gangzi, one must switch to the Ping 200 Road. On the seaside hills, one can observe an expansive area of approximately 200 hectares comprising vast sand dunes; locals refer to this landscape as "Taiwan's largest desert – the Jiupeng Desert." The Jiupeng Stream carries substantial river sand, which is transported and deposited on both sides of its river mouth due to wave and current actions. During low tide, strong winds blow the sand onto the highlands, forming a terrain reminiscent of desert dunes.
On clear days, numerous tourists enjoy reclining on the dunes to admire the beautiful sight of the moon rising from the sea. Strolling across the sand dunes during the evening also offers a unique and pleasurable experience.
