The Kaohsiung Mosque is the second mosque in Taiwan, founded in 1949. It was established by Muslim advocates who, along with military, civil service, and educational personnel who had relocated to Taiwan with the government, raised funds to support their faith. As the Muslim population grew, the original facilities became insufficient, leading to the construction of the current building in 1990. The mosque’s exterior features a classic Islamic design: a fresh green, square structure with round-arched domes and a minaret. Inside, the spacious and bright prayer hall serves as the largest center for Islamic worship in southern Taiwan.
