A significant battle relic after the war, commemorating all the soldiers who fought bravely!
Yijiangshan Island, located off the coast of Zhejiang, was a crucial strategic location for the National Government's retreat to Taiwan in 1949. The government aimed to control the islands of Jinmen, Mazu, Dachen, and Yijiangshan to prepare for a potential counterattack against the mainland.
On January 18, 1955, the Communist forces launched a large-scale attack on Yijiangshan Island. After over 60 hours of intense fighting, the commander of the defending forces detonated a hand grenade and died, and all the stationed soldiers were killed. The battle was extremely tragic.
