“Aofeng Mountain Hiking Trail in Qingshui District” is covered by public-accident liability insurance. Aofeng Mountain Sports Park—formerly known as “Qingshui Park”—lies on the northern ridge of Dadu Mountain Terrace in Taichung City and covers roughly 60 hectares. Linked with Ziyun Temple, it forms a popular tourist route that draws crowds every weekend. Visitors spread out across the broad lawns to romp, chat, stroll, or play baseball; a kite-flying zone lets families send colorful sails into the sky, while barbecue pits gather friends around glowing coals and conversation. Clean air and quiet surroundings make the park ideal for all-generation recreation. Facilities include a children’s playground, a bicycle velodrome, kite plaza, bird-watching area, and historic-preservation zone. The bicycle velodrome is billed as Asia’s first international-standard track, and with Giant—maker of the world-famous Giant bikes—headquartered in Taichung, the city is a global cycling hub. The bird-watching area hosts numerous species, plus squirrels, peacocks, and other wildlife that delight onlookers. Beside the valley lies the so-called “Ghost Cave,” a kilometer-long cavern of twists and turns perfect for a bit of spelunking. Trail options vary: an easy loop starts from Lovers’ Slope to Qingyun Temple or Prince’s Hall, then returns via the steep Dongshan Road slope to Kite Lawn; a fitness-oriented route begins behind the velodrome to Qingyun Temple or Prince’s Hall, returning via the concrete flood-channel steps beside the Ke-Cai Ancestral Hall. Locals often climb the “Shrine Slope” staircase—lush as a green tunnel—to reach the top; choose whichever suits your stamina.
