The Chiang Kai-shek Residence in Sizihwan is located on Lianhai Road, Gushan District, and is a secluded abode nestled within the campus of National Sun Yat-sen University, shaded by green trees. This two-story green-stained Japanese-style building was constructed in 1935 as part of the commemorative exhibition celebrating the 40th anniversary of the ruling of the Governor-General of Taiwan during the Japanese colonial era (italics). Due to its proximity to the Sizihwan beach, it once served as a hot water bathhouse affiliated with the seaside bathing area. Beginning in 1952, it was repurposed as a rest residence for the late President Chiang Kai-shek in the southern region. Given the building's historical significance, the second floor continues to preserve and display artifacts related to President Chiang. The courtyard on the first floor still houses the late president's original presidential car, while the first floor space has been transformed into the "Xiwan Art Gallery," quietly narrating the passage of time and tumultuous historical transitions between regimes.
