Every March, when wheat ripens, the Da-Ya wheat fields in Taichung shine with vast golden expanses. A gentle breeze blows, causing the wheat heads to bow and then straighten, and the swaying waves of wheat ripple like waves, creating a mesmerizing landmark in Taichung City. Da‑Ya accounts for 90% of Taiwan’s wheat production, and its annual cultural festival uses wheat as the marketing theme. In addition to the wind‑blown wheat waves, the site features art installations of varying sizes. Because the festival falls during the Western Valentine’s Day, many of the art pieces are romance‑themed, making the Da‑Ya wheat fields an unexpected hotspot for couples to date.
