Dalukuan Theme Park spans 53.6 hectares and offers a wide variety of attractions, including the Daguan River, a water park, Cactus World, a tropical botanical garden, a pirate-ship sandcastle, an observation deck, the Dawushan Theater, and Taiwan’s first-ever Balinese leisure pavilions. The entire park is steeped in a laid-back Balinese resort atmosphere. The 866-meter Daguan River is a man-made canal that loops through the grounds, built mainly of pebbles. Drift along in a rubber dinghy and you can admire the distinctive architecture, natural landscaping, and lush greenery that line the banks, taking in all the park’s scenery at a gentle pace. Along the way are three docks—Water Dock, Cactus Dock, and Shopping Dock—where visitors can disembark to rest, sample food, or head to another recreation area. Disembark at Water Dock to reach the water-play zone. Facilities are divided by age: an adult pool, a children’s pool, and a toddler pool. The adult pool is spacious and fringed with leisure pavilions; in-water features include wooden bridges, fountains, gazebos, and planted islets that add fun to every splash. The children’s pool has adorable mushroom and affectionate-swan-shaped water jets where kids can swim or toss water balls. In the toddler pool, engineered currents create bubbly surfaces that fascinate the littlest visitors. Step off at Cactus Dock and you’re in Cactus World, home to a quirky collection of cacti: ribbon-like “Chunfeng Jin & Dijin Variegata,” coral-resembling “Silver Coral,” echeveria-lookalike “Astrophytum ornatum,” and spike-clustered “Cereus hexagonus.” Each odd silhouette is sure to make you gasp in wonder. The Tropical Botanical Garden is another must-see, stocked with rare plants and hibiscus. You’ll see ponytail palms with swollen bases and skinny trunks, red-spined pandanus whose roots look like octopus arms, elephant-foot trees with pale-gray bark, plus orange “Golden Ball,” yellow “Golden Ball,” pink “Sweetheart,” and red “Black Pearl” hibiscus—an eye-popping rainbow of blooms. Finally, disembark at Shopping Dock for the retail strip. Whether you crave a shopping spree, a hearty feast, or a complete rest, this is the place to be.
