There are currently three ship-shaped churches in Taiwan, including Pan Ding Church, which is located in Longjing District, Taichung; Gara Church, which is situated in the Kara tribe of Lala Mountain, Fuxing Township, Taoyuan County; and Zhangyuan Church, which is located in Zhangyuan Village, Changbin Township, Taitung County.
The Pan Ding Church, located in Longjing District, is a well-preserved ship-shaped church. The exterior wall of the church is painted with a sky blue color on the outer circle and white in the middle. The blue and white colors are typical of Mediterranean architecture, which harmonizes with the sky and makes the church look like a giant ship sailing on the sea. The unique and eye-catching appearance of the church makes it a popular tourist attraction.
The Pan Ding Church, located in the alleys of the Donghai University business district, is another uniquely designed church in the Taichung coastal area, after the Lu Xiyi Church on Donghai Road. The church was completed in 1983 and was built based on the biblical story of Noah's Ark. The church's ship-shaped exterior design and the ship anchor and lantern on the walls are all related to the Bible.
The distinctive architecture and sailboat-shaped exterior wall make the main body of the Pan Ding Church look like Noah's Ark. The bright blue and white colors of the church create a feeling of joy and serenity. The garden landscape design is also related to Noah's Ark, which is a thoughtful and creative design. After nearly thirty years since its completion, the Pan Ding Church remains a popular tourist attraction, and the devout believers who visit the church feel a sense of peace and comfort.
