Breaking away from the stereotypical image of libraries as rigid and dull, the New Taipei City Library Linkou Branch has created a simple and cozy reading space. Using black, white, and gray as the base color palette, paired with Nordic-style furniture, the library has become a delightful place with the comfort of home. The bookshelves are spaced widely apart, and their height is specially designed to be under 130 centimeters, making it easier to move around and access books while also creating a more open feel to the space. The most impressive feature is the giant bookshelf wall inside the library, stretching 36 meters long and claimed to be the longest in Taiwan. Its curved design, along with the elegant multi-level staircase bookshelf, not only makes the extensive collection easily visible but also showcases the ultimate beauty of book arrangement. The library currently features a children's room, slow reading area, reading area, senior-friendly area, periodicals and newspapers area, laptop area, and leisure reading area, with a total collection of approximately 160,000 books, which will continue to be updated. The library has many bright and comfortable reading spaces, with USB charging ports available on tables. Thoughtful and convenient designs can be seen throughout the library, making it perfect whether you want to enjoy reading alone quietly or have a parent-child reading time!
