Tongxing Old Street is the earliest street in Houlong and also a collection and exchange center for Han Chinese and Pingpu indigenous peoples to trade goods. Later, the Houlongxi River gradually silted up, and Han Chinese people reclaimed the riverbank as farmland. The population gradually increased, forming Houlong Street, which is now the city center. There is a small ditch on the east side of Tongguang Elementary School. In the past, the stream water was crystal clear. The Pingpu women used to wash clothes in the ditch, so it was called "Fanpozi Ditch". During the prosperous period of Gongliao Harbor, Tongxing Old Street was the busiest street. Today it has become an old street with an ancient charm. The early commercial building next to the street reveals that the estuary of Houlongxi River once played a role in trading goods.
