While most cities have established cycling trails, few offer a rare opportunity to enjoy waterfront scenery up close. The Nankan Creek Waterfront Bicycle Path is one of the few recreational routes successfully integrated into natural landscapes, spanning 22 kilometers. Connecting Guishan, Taoyuan, Luzhu, and Dazuan with parks and landscape bridges, this path provides rare open views in urban areas, offering distinct daytime and nighttime scenery. Riding along the trail, native fish species swim freely in the river with clean water attracting numerous little egrets to forage. Combined with local materials such as cobble-filled riverbanks, it presents an ecological landscape painting. Starting from Guishan District’s Nankan No. 1 Bridge through Hu Tou Mountain Park to Luzhu District’s Nankan Creek Bridge, a continuous green corridor features nine-corn, chinese wisteria, peach, and camellia trees, adding a vibrant atmosphere amid the rural scenery. The trail is generally flat without significant elevation changes, making it suitable for family bicycle trips. Streetlights illuminate the path, while multiple water-friendly parks along the route offer ecological pools, bicycle parking areas, walking paths, courts, lawns, and simple playgrounds, providing comprehensive recreational functions. Guishan and Luzhu banks also preserve old-fashioned water pumps. After dusk, the highlight of Nankan Creek rests entirely on its splendid landscape bridges. These include Taoyuan's Bianshou Bridge "Beauty of Taoyuan", Taoyuan Qingxi Rainbow Bridge, Luzhu Nankan Creek Riverside Park's "Bamboo Dream Bridge", and Guishan First Riverside Park's "Star and Moon Bridge," where time-based light designs project dazzling colors onto bridge structures. Distinguished from daytime aesthetics with modern appearances, these bridges dazzle spectators, often captivating cyclists to linger and admire their beauty.
