The Ruins of Japanese Occupation ~ A Historically Significant Japanese-Style Architecture The Toshogu Shrine, with a thick Japanese Shinto atmosphere, is located in the Hu Tou Shan Park. It was built in 1937 with strong Japanese characteristics. Currently, only the main hall base, coin hall ruins, shrine approach, worship hall, torii gate, and shrine office remain. Although the altitude of the mountain is less than 100 meters, the wide vision can overlook the streets of Tongxiao. Walking up the long and winding path is quite romantic. The Toshogu Shrine is located on the Hu Tou Shan Mountain in Tongxiao. Over the years, it has been damaged by wind and rain, and its building exterior is almost in ruins. Recently, it has been restored by the Miaoli County Cultural Affairs Bureau. The shrine's appearance is almost the same as it was when it was first built, and it even has more features than before. On June 19, 2005, the town office held a "Miaoli County Historic Building - Reviving the New Appearance of Toshogu Shrine" completion ceremony at the shrine, and a series of lively activities were held to celebrate.
