When you take the train along the mountain line through Tai'an Station, if you pay attention to the window, you will notice a "bullet-shaped" building standing by the railway. It is the "Taichung Line Earthquake Reconstruction Memorial." This memorial was erected to commemorate the strong earthquake that occurred in the midstream of Da'an Creek during the Japanese colonial period in Showa 10 (1935 AD) on April 21 at dawn. This earthquake brought unprecedented disaster to the then state-operated Taiwan Railway Taichung Line.
