Firefox users can now protect their privacy on Facebook with the Facebook Container extension. This tool isolates Facebook activity into a separate container, making it harder for Facebook to track users across the web with third-party cookies.
Facebook Container closes Facebook tabs, deletes Facebook cookies, and logs users out of Facebook upon installation. The next time a user navigates to Facebook, it loads in a new, blue-colored browser tab (the 'Container'). Users can log in and use Facebook normally within this container. If they click on a non-Facebook link or navigate to a non-Facebook website, these pages load outside the container.
Embedded Facebook comments and Like buttons outside the Facebook Container will not work, preventing Facebook from associating activity on other websites with a user's Facebook identity. Additionally, websites that allow login using Facebook credentials may not work properly.
Mozilla does not collect data from the Facebook Container extension's use. The extension leverages Firefox's built-in Containers feature and works in conjunction with the Firefox Multi-Account Containers extension for a better user experience.
