Guandu, originally named Kan豆門, is situated with the Guanyinshan and Dadu Shan mountains at its back and the Danshui River in front, making it a strategic port with difficult terrain. In the early days, pioneers entered and settled in northern Taiwan for development from the Guandu wharf. Therefore, Guandu was one of the earliest developed areas. Later on, due to sedimentation at the mouths of the two rivers (Keelung River and Danshui River), water transportation gradually declined. The Guandu wharf is located next to Guandu Nature Park and Guandu Mazu Temple. On holidays or at night, tourists can often be seen stopping by the Guandu wharf to take a stroll or rest. Many cyclists also come from Baxi by way of the Guandu Bridge, or from Danshui. The scenery along the way is beautiful and bright, making it an excellent spot for sightseeing.
