"Pirate Hero, Foolish Harbor," and "The treasure of stolen gold and silver drums appears," are the couplets at the entrance of the Xiang He Leisure Fish Farm. This fish pond turned environmental education site takes the theme of Cai Qian, the leader of pirates during the Qing dynasty, and is located in the Dongshi Township of Chiayi, where fishing has been a major economic industry. Xiang He Leisure Fish Farm creates a Red Mangrove (Avicennia) forest friendly habitat and combines it with the nearby Gou Drum (鰲鼓) wetland ecology, hoping that visitors can have a deeper understanding of the local natural ecology and culture through hands-on experience and detailed guided tours.
