Do you remember the scene in the movie *Seediq Bale* where the Seediq warriors stand on the Rainbow Bridge, fighting courageously for their freedom? This path leading to the eternal hunting grounds is sacred and beautiful. Today, visiting Rovu Forest and following the footsteps of the hunters to this hidden treasure allows you to either explore tribal culture or admire the spectacular natural landscapes, ensuring a fulfilling experience.
Built in 1966 (ROC Year 55), Yihsing Suspension Bridge is the only water pipeline bridge in Taoyuan. Originally constructed to supply irrigation water, it underwent renovation in 2013, increasing pedestrian capacity from 10 to 100 people. With a length of approximately 200 meters, this bridge features a metal-grid frame, wooden planks, and a height equivalent to 15 floors (about 70 meters). Walking on it gives a thrilling sensation akin to traversing a tightrope. Gazing downward, the mesmerizing view of Dateng Gorge, paired with the gentle flow of river water, brings profound relaxation to both body and mind. In April and May, the surrounding hills are dotted with blooming Paulownia flowers, creating an overflowing poetic charm. Even if the height momentarily gives you butterflies, the view and sense of accomplishment after overcoming the challenge are undeniably rewarding.
To reach Yihsing Suspension Bridge, start at Luofu Elementary School; follow Provincial Highway 7 until you see the "Luofu Village. Yihsing Bridge" signpost indicating the northern entrance. If you'd like to build stronger legs or immerse deeper into nature, consider starting at Xiaowula Sky Rope Bridge. Hike through the Japanese-era water channel trail—walking on gravel paths and elevated wooden walkways. The trail is gently sloped and easy to walk, requiring only stairs at the beginning and end. It's a family-friendly route. Along the way, you’ll enjoy untouched natural scenery, stroll through lush bamboo groves, and uniquely experience city-living’s rarity. From above, the Luofu and Fuxing Bridges stretch across the mountain ranges, offering picturesque views that refresh your spirit after a trek and adding a rustic, wild charm to your mountain journey.
