The old street of Wanhua, in its narrow sense, refers to the section of Guiyang Street in front of Qingshan Temple. Formerly known as "Sweet Potato Market Street", it is called the "First Street of Taipei", and is the oldest street in the city. It was also the starting point of Wanhua's prosperity. To this day, some of its buildings still preserve the red-brick features that date back to the Qing and Japanese eras.
