The shop’s sign, “Organic Coffee,” was selected as one of the Ten Best Souvenirs and Specialty Foods of Taitung County in 2012. Huang Yi‑xiong has been cultivating crops such as plums, guava, and jackfruit on the land in Mingfeng Village, Beinan Township, Taitung County, and later transitioned to natural farming of organic coffee—over forty years of work. At the age of 64, one day a friend invited him for coffee. The bitter taste made him, a lifelong tea drinker, think, “Is this self‑inflicted suffering?” Coffee’s bitterness is loved worldwide, yet it sparked his curiosity for research. He decided to devote the spacious orchard to coffee cultivation, giving birth to “CLC First Deer Organic Coffee Farm.” In 2009, CLC Organic Coffee Farm participated in the “Taitung Premium Coffee Bean” evaluation and earned the prestigious Commercial Grade award. Having never drunk coffee before, he now fully immerses himself in the coffee world. Huang Yi‑xiong hopes that organic coffee farmers in Taitung will work together to market high‑quality coffee overseas, letting Taitung coffee’s aroma drift across the globe.
