Mingong is a place of remarkable natural and human spirit. Its beautiful mountains and rivers, coupled with its warm-hearted people, have nurtured literary figures such as Zhong Lihe, whose life was devoted to pouring blood into literature and voicing the plight of farmers. It also gave rise to artists like Teacher Zeng Wenzhong, who selflessly devoted himself to fine arts, preserving the beauty of the homeland. Teacher Zeng Wenzhong is a renowned oil and watercolor painter. Growing up in the Zeng family workshop on the old Yong'an Street, he has deep affection for Mingong’s local culture, scenic beauty, and the traditional thatched houses. He created hundreds of paintings in the “Mingong hometown series” and a “Kaohsiung series,” capturing each scene of his hometown as if it were a peach blossom paradise. He often generously donated large-scale works to government cultural agencies and schools to promote aesthetic education and inspire students. Zeng Wenzhong has a particular affection for traditional Hakka thatched house workshops. Seeing the beautiful and unique workshops gradually disappearing due to neglect, he tirelessly worked for their preservation and revitalization. In 2000, he finally reconstructed the ancestral house on Yong'an Street into a spacious modern gallery and established the “Zeng Wenzhong Art Museum.” The museum displays his works as well as those of other artists, and serves as a venue for art and literary lectures. He also encouraged the residents of Yong'an Street to preserve, record, and exhibit Hakka artifacts and history, establishing a network of workshop museums, thus ensuring the long-lasting legacy of Hakka cultural heritage.
