The Xuan-Shan Lake Mountain Forest Café, which opened in 2004 (ROC 93), covers an area of three hectares and is planted with 1,800 coffee trees. The coffee’s hallmark is its uniform processing—from harvesting, de-pulping, washing, sun‑drying, hulling, roasting, to brewing and serving. Initially introduced by the owner’s wife, the Taiwanese Dongshan coffee variety was cultivated in Dapu Township. In 2006 (ROC 95), it won an award at the Zengwen Reservoir Coffee Tourism Festival coffee tasting competition. The Arabica coffee grown here is medium‑roasted, with a mild acidity, smoothness, slight bitterness, and a sweet aftertaste; its low caffeine content is a distinctive feature. Nurtured in the misty, warm, humid climate of the Zengwen Reservoir, pesticide‑free, organic Taiwanese coffee is born here.
