The local beverage brand of Taiwan, "Gold Car Beverage," has opened factory tours at Zhongli! "Mr. Brown～Coffee～" The catchy jingle of this well-known advertisement inevitably brings to mind the image of an elderly man in a white suit, sporting a thick mustache, holding a coffee cup in one hand and giving a thumbs-up with the other. This character is the trademark of Brown's Coffee, a division under the Gold Car company and one of the representative brands of canned coffee in Taiwan. In 1979, the company established a factory in Zhongli District, Taoyuan City, introducing the "Gold Car Ginger Ale ("Jinche Maigen Shashih")" to capture consumer attention. Subsequently, a coffee production line was set up in the factory to launch canned coffee—now known as Brown's Coffee. The company has consistently used the image of Mr. Brown, whose Western appearance symbolizes the origins of coffee from Central and South America. This concept precisely aligned with the brand's original intention when designing its trademark and became its iconic image. In May 1982, the first batch of Brown's Coffee hit the market, achieving an impressive market share from the outset. Since then, the company continues to develop and launch coffee with various flavors to offer consumers more choices. The factory grounds in Zhongli feature extensive greening and are planned like a large park, breaking away from the common perception of typical factories. Its scenery is even popular for newlyweds photographing wedding photos. To promote a trustworthy and genuine beverage brand, the factory area currently offers open visits for school groups. Guests can walk along a dedicated tour corridor inside the factory to learn about how the famous Brown's Coffee is manufactured, where the coffee beans originate, and the process of filling the coffee cans, among other informative details. The tours are by appointment only and are conducted with free guided explanations, making it an educational destination for outdoor field studies.
