2025-09-23
Green Turtle Eco-Preservation Center The streamlined building is located beside Tanmen Harbor, standing in the southeast of Wang-an Island. The center boasts well-equipped facilities and is divided into several sections: Green Turtle Introduction Area, Turtle and Human Ecology Display Area, Seabird Introduction Area, and Nansha Travel Information. At the entrance of the exhibition hall, there is a special stone monument, "Haoshan Hall". The inscription on the monument records that, in the past, gentry in the Wang-an area raised funds to protect sea turtles and cows. The monument was erected to encourage residents to show mercy to life and report to the government for severe punishment for those who violated the rules, demonstrating the importance of kindness and authority. Upon entering the center, one can have a panoramic view of Wang-an's natural ecology, with swiftlets and conservation animals making appearances. The most important "green sea turtle" features an introduction to the characteristics and distribution environments of various turtle species, as well as information on sea turtles and folk activities such as "Shangyuan Begging for Turtles", marine ecology, and historical culture. The center was built to provide equipment and resources for academic units to conduct on-site research. The establishment of the Green Turtle Eco-Preservation Center not only provides a perfect research station for the study of green sea turtle ecology in Penghu's Wang-an Island but also serves as an on-site ecological education center. The center's exhibitions are designed based on an environmental and situational concept, providing an emotional and intellectual ecological education environment. Through interactive models and exhibits, visitors can learn in a fun and engaging way, achieving the goal of "education through entertainment". 【Recommended stay】1.5 hours
