The Cilake Mausoleum is renowned for being the resting place of the Republic of China's former President Chiang Kai-shek. Cilake is divided into Front and Back Cilake, with captivating scenery along the lake's shores, where willows sway gently, offering a view reminiscent of the beauty found in the southern Jiangsu region. Chiang named the site Cilake because he felt it resembled his hometown of Fenghua in Zhejiang province and expressed his deep reverence for his mother. The lakes within the Cilake area are connected by streams, surrounded by beautiful mountains on all sides, providing a scenic landscape that reveals different natural wonders depending on the season. In addition to paying respects at the mausoleum, visitors must not miss the changing-of-the-guard ceremony performed by the honor guard, composed of rotating units from the three military services. Their synchronized rifle drills every hour attract domestic and international visitors to stop, watch, and take photographs as souvenirs.
