Located on Jingtong Old Street, the “Jingtong Railway Story House” is run by He Yuanfu, a devoted railway enthusiast. After negotiating with Taiwan Railways, he opened this quaint, nostalgia-soaked museum at Jingtong, the last stop on the Pingxi Branch Line. The two-story wooden building, modeled on 1960s architecture, is deliberately steeped in retro atmosphere, selling beautiful memories of days gone by. Shelves are stocked with pull-back trains shaped like railcars, Tatung dolls, wooden postcards, vintage-style tickets—everything revolves around railways and coal-mining themes, making perfect souvenirs to prove you were here. The mailbox by the entrance and the life-size station-master figure are must-photo spots; the staff have even thoughtfully provided a bench so everyone can frame the perfect shot.
