Dapa Liuji (Tamalakau) means “warrior” in the Bunun language. It is located in the “Dapa Liuji Medicinal Plant Garden” at an altitude of 600 meters in Bunun Township, Taitung County. The garden covers more than three hectares of forestland, and includes more than one hectare of medicinal plant and wild‑vegetable area where over a hundred varieties of fresh vegetables, fruit, and herbs are cultivated. It also boasts the stunning “Dapa Liuji Viewpoint Restaurant.” The observation platform within the garden allows visitors to absorb the expansive scenery: from the lush flowers and trees at your feet to the distant plains of Taitung City and the Pacific coastline. The wide vista quickly relaxes the mind, making one feel as if they have entered a paradise. Take a deep breath, slowly connect your body to the earth, and find inner peace. The “Dapa Liuji Viewpoint Restaurant” focuses on self‑grown vegetables, letting guests select, blanch, and cook their own produce. It also offers a variety of health‑boosting hot soups such as thunder god tea‑chicken soup and five‑elements soup, as well as steamed rice with bay leaves, fruit, and sweet soup.
