Close-up and intimate encounter with Blue Night Jellyfish Blue Night Jellyfish, also known as Noctiluca scintillans, are the first impressions many visitors have of Matsu. However, these bioluminescent phenomena are not visible year-round and can be affected by weather conditions even when the season is favorable. The Matsu Blue Night Jellyfish Ecological Museum, established in August 2018, is Matsu's first highly interactive natural heritage ecological theme museum. In addition to static exhibitions introducing Matsu's ecological features, it utilizes 4D immersive virtual reality technology to bring visitors into a lifelike experience, allowing interaction with the Blue Night Jellyfish regardless of the season. Near the museum, vibrant 3D sea murals are painted on the walls of surrounding buildings and seawalls. Small in scope but visually stunning, the museum was originally a fisheries research institute before being renovated into its current form. It integrates nightlight jellyfish cultivation techniques developed by the Ocean University and operates a breeding program for the Blue Night Jellyfish. Through professional guided tours, visitors can observe these creatures up close without seasonal or weather restrictions, experiencing Matsu's precious natural asset at any time of day or night throughout the year.
