南投縣魚池鄉銃櫃巷32號
From Doushe Basin, following Highway 21 toward Shuilian Township, you can see on the right side of the road a significantly tall statue of Lord Taizi. That location is Tianbao Hall at Wudeng Village. Local legend has two accounts regarding the origin of the place name "Gun Cabinet" (Chiongkuai). First, during the Qing Dynasty, indigenous groups often raided and killed travelers passing near Land God's Saddle Ridge along the Shisarhlian Ancient Path. To protect traders and travelers passing between the areas, the Qing government stationed civilian soldiers and established an ammunition storage facility there, hence the name. Second, after Taiwan was ceded to Japan, local residents near Sun Moon Lakeshore attempted to resist Japanese forces entering the region by fortifying the elevated Land God's Saddle Ridge near Gun Cabinet, leading to its name. Tianbao Hall was built during the Japanese colonial period, venerated by three main deities (Kuan Kong, Lü Dongbin, and Zao Wang Ye). The temple is grand in scale. In the autumn of 1985, Lord Taizi was enshrined to guard the temple. After demonstrating his divine power repeatedly, the deities descended through oracles to instruct followers to construct a sacred statue of Lord Taizi standing approximately 20.7 feet (6 zhang 2 chi 7 cun) tall behind the temple, honoring the deity's miraculous protection of local residents. Due to its towering structure, the Lord Taizi statue has become a prominent landmark of Gun Cabinet.
