Qianzhen Fish Port is Kaohsiung’s largest fishing port, covering an area of 312,500 square meters of water and 320,000 square meters of land. It can accommodate dozens of thousand-tonnage deep‑sea fishing vessels, most of which unload here. As a result, the port offers a diverse and abundant range of seafood, making it the linchpin of Kaohsiung’s fishing industry. Southern fishing agencies—including the Marine Bureau, the Offshore Fisheries Center, the Fisheries Research Institute, trade unions, the Fisheries Culture Museum, and others—congregate at this location. It is currently Taiwan’s largest deep‑sea port in terms of the tonnage of docked vessels and the quantity of catch, and it is the country’s biggest fishing hub. Each morning, as the day begins to break, fishing vessels pour into the harbor. Some of the catch is immediately shipped to nearby processing plants, while other portions are sent to wholesale or direct‑sale markets. Visitors can buy fresh seafood in the lively fish market, or they can tour the aquaculture exhibition hall and the fishing village heritage museum in the Fisheries Office building to learn about rich marine resources and the lifestyle of early fishing villages. Due to its vast hinterland and multifunctional capabilities, Qianzhen Fish Port is considered the largest in Taiwan, offering integrated development in fishing, tourism, cultural education, and maritime transportation.
