The origin of "Christmas Lane" in Jiqing Community dates back to 1999, when Pastor Lin Gongzhao of "Three Love Church" in the community moved the Christmas tree originally placed inside the church to the outdoors. The church members in the lane also followed suit, decorating their doorways with Christmas lights and spreading the Christmas message to their neighbors. As the festive atmosphere spread, the residents of the lane joined in year after year, and with the help of Li Changzong, the village head of Jiqing Community, Mr. Wen Yongyan, a carpenter, Professor Pan Tongtai from Taipei City University of Technology, and Pastors Lin Gongzhao and Hou Shulian from Three Love Church, who carefully planned and set up the decorations, "Christmas Lane" grew in scale and fame. Today, every year around Christmas, it's become a traditional celebration for households in the lane to set up Christmas displays. Every December, residents start to spontaneously decorate their homes, even starting to design and make new displays months in advance. There's an unspoken agreement among residents that the lights will be turned on every year, starting from the week before Christmas and lasting until the Lantern Festival the following year. The "Christmas Lane" in Jiqing Village is organized on a household basis, with different themes such as high-speed rail, cable cars, helicopters, and yellow ducks. The windowsills and courtyards of every household in the lane are carefully designed by the residents. In 2014, "Christmas Lane" in Jiqing Community was voted one of the top 10 Christmas romantic spots in the country by netizens.
