The best vantage point for a full view of Nangang is at the hilltop above the Seven Buildings of Southau, where a massive rock bears the inscription "East Sea Heroic Winds." According to the Eastyu Township Gazetteer, in the spring of 1956, the island's military garrison of the East Sea Guerrilla Unit encountered about ten enemy ships invading the sea area during a patrol. After bravely driving them off and triumphantly returning home, the unit leader, overjoyed at overcoming the enemy's numerical superiority, inscribed these four characters to honor their valiant spirit. Standing atop the hill, one can admire the full view of Southau Village and the Zhongzhu Harbor, with breathtaking scenery all around. This site is the only open location in Eastyu Island where the entire island can be seen in a 360-degree panoramic vista.
