連江縣東引鄉燕秀潮音
The "Symphony of Waves" performed by the Nature Symphony Orchestra. Yanshun Chao Yin is a naturally formed seaside cave located on the southern coastal area of Dongyin Island. Surrounded by sheer cliffs with no openings, it connects to the sea through cracks at the valley’s base. Daily tides flood into the valley, and waves crashing against the rock walls create echoes, earning it the name "Chao Yin" (sound of tides). The term "Yanshun" originates from the local dialect meaning "swallow nest." Due to strong sea winds, swallows historically could not build nests under eaves in the area and instead lived in these valleys. After military forces occupied the island and conducted frequent live-fire drills nearby, the loud artillery noises frightened the swallows, causing them to abandon the site. The area features the Chao Yin Pavilion and a loop trail, with routes offering choices to enter left and exit right, or vice versa. Hikers can walk around the valley to admire the protected coastal plants, such as the Ilex dombeyi and Pittosporum tobira, as well as the 360-degree views of cliffs, bays, headlands, sea caves, and other diverse landscapes. From the vantage point, breathtaking sights like Rats' Beach (Laoshusha), Raccoon Stone (Huancengshi), and Tortoise Rock (Chaoshan Guishi) provide unforgettable scenery. Do not miss this experience. Note: Access to this military site is restricted to domestic visitors only (tour groups, corporate or government organizations, as well as individuals such as independent travelers and backpackers). After verifying identities with guards and completing the application, visitors may enter.
