桃園市復興區經台7線公路往宜蘭方向,約48.5公里處
In the boundless verdant mountain forest, the Baoling Bridge is a pale pink ribbon spanning across both sides of the Dahan Creek, offering a pleasant surprise to travelers visiting the hometown of watermelon peaches. Ranked as one of the three most famous bridges along the Northern Cross-County Highway (the other two being Luofu Bridge and Dahan Bridge), the Baoling Bridge, completed in 2005, serves as an essential landmark in the Baoling area. The 220-meter steel girder bridge boasts a maximum span of 185 meters, the largest among bridges along the Dahan Creek. In comparison to the single-lane Baoling Old Bridge, which is only 4.5 meters wide, the Baoling Bridge provides greater traffic efficiency. Its full width is 11.5 meters, including 7.5 meters for dual lanes and 1.5 meters for the pedestrian walkway, which effectively alleviates the holiday traffic pressure for people traveling to and from Lalashan and Jiaobanshan. The smooth, elegant curves of the Dahan Creek express a magnificent presence, and walking along it evokes admiration for its extraordinary architectural craftsmanship. Under the Baoling Bridge is the magnificent view of Yufeng Stream and Sanguang Stream converging. Standing at the viewing platform beside the bridge, one can gaze at the new and old bridges flanking the emerald-green valley, rewarding the effort of the drive to this remote location. A visit to Baoling is no longer limited to appreciating natural beauty alone; on each end of the old bridge are tunnels originally excavated by manual labor, now unused for vehicles. These tunnels showcase Taroko Indigenous paintings, traditional attire, and specialty agricultural products, allowing visitors to learn about local culture. Next to the entrance of Tunnel No. 1 stands the "Baleng Memorial Column," memorializing the predecessor of the Baleng Old Bridge—the Baleng Iron Line Bridge built during the Japanese colonial period. For those who enjoy challenges, an adventurous journey is a must: don bungee-jumping gear and leap from the 43-meter-high Baoling Old Bridge, enjoying the thrilling excitement of this extreme sport while letting out cheers.
