It was originally the Taiwan Daily News company, which was formed by the merger of two Japanese newspapers, Taiwan Shinpo and Taiwan Daily. At the time, it was the largest newspaper with the longest publication time. On October 26, 1945, Li Wan-chu, on behalf of the Office of the Chief Executive, took over the Taiwan Shinpo and renamed it the Taiwan New Life News, which was the only official newspaper at the time. When the February 28 Incident occurred in 1947, the company's general manager Ruan Chao-rih and Japanese-language editor Wu Jin-lian were forcibly taken away by people from the Taiwan Provincial Government, and their whereabouts remain unknown to this day.
