The Zhanghu area is located in the mountainous eastern part of Gukeng Township, Yunlin County, at an elevation of 300 to 800 meters. Because the local basin forms a round, lake-like depression and was once covered with camphor trees that produced abundant camphor, it was named Zhanghu (“Camphor Lake”). Within the mountains are sixteen scenic spots—Dragon-Phoenix Falls, Evergreen Falls, Everlasting Sky Falls, Everlasting Earth Falls, Secluded Three-Stream Flow, Long-Bridge Path into the Quiet, Spirited Spring Soaring Dragon, Clear-Water Serene Valley, Immortals’ Bathing Pool, Treasure Island Pool, Zhanghu Mountain, Mountain-Sea Vista, Thousand-Year Sacred Tree, Immortals-Gathering Boulder, Lianbao Rock, and Snake Emperor Palace—collectively known as the “Zhanghu Sixteen Scenes,” inviting visitors to explore the ever-changing wonders of nature.
