Warning: Road damage, trail closure, please be careful! Fengshan's Shipan Valley, surrounded by mountains, with steep cliffs and giant rocks, is a step-like valley terrain. The Qiankeng Stream flows through it, forming large and small waterfalls and stream pools. From bottom to top, there are six waterfalls, each with its unique charm. This is a must-visit destination for travelers who love primitive charm and natural exploration. The currently planned trail can be divided into two sections. The first section is from the parking lot to the Shipan Valley Rest Pavilion, passing through a suspension bridge and stone board walkway. The scenery along the way is magnificent, especially from the bridge, where you can fully experience the shock of giant rocks standing upright. The Rest Pavilion area is built like an aerial garden, with tall trees, birdsong, and fragrant flowers. The camphor trees are planted with orchids and crab's paw, and wild mountain Suo, Ai Yu, and cliff ginger ferns cling to the mountain Huang and maple trees. The scenery is fresh and beautiful. Under the trees, there are several artificial ponds that reflect the green surroundings and provide water for birds. The birdwatching here is excellent, and in the early morning, you can often see mountain red-headed birds, bush birds, gray-throated mountain peppers, crowned thrushes, and mountain sparrows calling and responding to each other. The second section of the trail starts from the Rest Pavilion and leads to the Shipan Valley Waterfall Group, where you can admire the beautiful scenery of the large cliff and waterfall. If you have good physical strength, you can continue to move forward and go deep into the Maple Valley Waterfall. Along the way, bamboo forests, secondary forests, and primitive forests are mixed. The deeper you go, the more primitive and magnificent the landscape becomes, and the better the birdwatching. You will also pass through natural rice dumpling leaf forests, nine-flavored art forests, and large cliff scenery. The rice dumpling leaf forest has rice dumpling leaves, also known as mountain pig ears and spider egg, which emit a fragrance and are Taiwan's real rice dumpling leaves. Locals often use the leaves of this plant to make rice dumplings. The nine-flavored art forest has several strange and peculiar nine-flavored trees that form natural artistic landscapes, such as grasshoppers and centipedes, deer horn forks, flying ant wings, and spider kings. The large cliff is vertical for dozens of meters and has ropes for people to climb. The Maple Valley Waterfall is the last stop on this trip. In the valley, there are wild maple trees. When autumn comes, the maple leaves turn red and fall into the stream, which is the most beautiful. The Maple Valley Waterfall is also named after this. From the parking lot to the Maple Valley Waterfall return trip, it takes about 3 to 4 hours.
