桃园市龙潭区桃園市325龍潭區竹龍路590巷56號
Taoyuan's Longtan, which has experienced the ebb and flow of Taiwan's tea industry, once boasted numerous tea factories at its peak. Today, only a handful remain in operation, a situation that deeply resonates with Mr. Huang Wen-liang, the fourth-generation successor of Fuyuan Tea Factory. During its heyday, with annual production reaching 3 to 4 million jin, tea was considered the region's "black gold." However, as export advantages diminished, production volume sharply declined to one-tenth of its former level. Guided by an unwavering belief, the tea factory weathered these challenging times, not only preserving its legacy of a century-long tea tradition but also actively promoting the culture of high-quality tea. Walking along the ancient path toward Fuyuan Tea Factory, the surrounding landscape features natural scenery of fields, hills, and terraces. Women wearing traditional Hakka patterned headscarves and tea pickers bending over with bamboo baskets to pluck fresh leaves create a serene countryside painting. Established in 1949 by the factory's founder, the tea factory utilized locally sourced materials and mechanized methods for mass production. The antique European tea processing equipment still hums continuously inside. Amid the clanging roasting sounds, the passage of tea history is distinctly felt. Steeping a cup of Fuyuan's signature tea, "Hongyu" (Tainan 18), releases a subtle cinnamon fragrance that carries a fresh peppermint aftertaste into the throat. First-time visitors to Fuyuan are sure to be impressed by the tea's quality, clearly showcasing the dedication of those who cultivate it. The factory offers comprehensive guided tours, allowing visitors to gain in-depth knowledge about tea processing. Additional notable varieties include Gongfu-style "Sour Pomelo Tea" and Pengfeng "Oriental Beauty Tea," both of which are worth savoring. The renowned tea brand Cha Li Wang produces its Japanese-style green tea at Fuyuan Tea Factory, and its advertisement was filmed on-site. The factory provides hands-on experiences for tea visitors, including tea-picking, fabric ball tying, black tea rolling, and tea powder grinding DIY activities, giving them a chance to directly engage in tea-making. Within the quaint factory, experienced tea artisans guide visitors through the tea culture, teaching them how to craft uniquely sweet and umami-rich tea beverages. Each step of the process demands meticulous attention. Amid the soothing aroma of the tea, the stress of daily life gradually fades away.
