According to surveys, the XinYuan coastal zone and rocky reefs shelter over a hundred species of fish, such as trumpetfish and parrotfish, along with numerous shellfish and crustaceans, making it an area of rich biodiversity with coral cover being among the highest in all of Taiwan. It also boasts the largest algal reef on the east coast. When visiting in summer, make sure to roll up your pants, walk barefoot on the fine sandy beach, chase waves, or enjoy building sandcastles. Visitors wishing to explore this area are advised to book guided tours in advance for a systematic understanding of tidal zone species and their characteristics. Zitong Village, located along the coast, is the first Amis tribe to hold annual harvest festivals. Those planning to experience the festival should keep an eye on the village’s announcements from early July to avoid missing out.
