The Tainan tribe, also known as the Tamalakaw community within the Puyuma people's original eight villages, is located at the foot of the Tamalakaw Mountain. This village produced a well-known figure - A-Mei Zhang (often referred to as Asia's song queen). Despite being A-Mei's hometown, you won't find any A-Mei-related information or signage within the community. Rather than capitalizing on A-Mei's fame for publicity, the village preserves its traditional simplicity and quietness, making it uniquely precious in today's flashy society. When visiting Tainan village, begin with the traditional cultural sacrificial plaza, home to Puyuma style Pulan (communal house), ancestral house, and watchtower. These structures maintain a more rustic, primitive style than those in other Puyuma communities. The cultural plaza serves as the venue for the village's July harvest festival and end-of-year grand hunting ritual. During these periods, many visitors flock to witness these celebrations. If interested, visitors should pay close attention to event updates to experience these major Puyuma ceremonies firsthand. [Source: Tribal Backpacker - Feng Tai Dong Tribal Travel Guidebook]
