The settlement is mainly located south of Chi‑Bei, extending from the port in three directions—north, east, and west. It is mainly distributed from Guanyin Temple to Wusheng Temple, directly reaching the old wharf area. Chi‑Bei Village is divided into east and west by Wusheng Temple. The eastern side is predominantly occupied by families with the surnames “Chen” and “Xie,” while the western side has the surname “Zhuang” as the major clan. Wusheng Temple was originally built in the 7th year of Ming Yongli (1652 AD) and serves as the spiritual center for Chi‑Bei residents, also known as the Eastern Temple. Guanyin Temple was founded in the 7th year of the Daoguang era in the Qing dynasty (1827 AD), also referred to as the Western Temple. In addition, there are the Fukade Temple and the Taijiang Ye (commonly known as the “Common People’s Temple”), as well as several Yiming Gong temples. Chi‑Bei architecture is largely made from locally sourced materials, featuring neatly cut stone from the Langu stone, basalt, and stone slabs. Lime mortar is widely used, with carved beams and painted pillars, and the doors are painted with colorful murals, giving the whole structure an ancient charm. The settlement’s architecture blends various time periods and historical layers, even the window designs on the buildings are varied and creative. Behind the settlement lies a vegetable garden, where diligent farmers tend to the crops under the stone walls both in the morning and at dusk. When you come to Chi‑Bei, in addition to maritime activities, you can also stroll through the settlement during the day to experience its atmosphere. **Suggested length of stay:** 2 hours
