**Tips for Enjoyment**
◼️ Total length: about 13.1 km
◼️ Seasonal plantings along the way
The plantings change with the seasons: cherry blossoms in early spring, golden-shower cascades in midsummer, and dancing golden maple leaves in autumn; the tree-lined tunnel feels like an urban oasis. Gentle gradients make it perfect for family cycling, letting riders unwind while soaking up nature’s healing touch.
Built on the former military Shen-Gang branch line, it starts at Zhongshan Rd., Tanzi Dist., passes through Daya and Shen-Gang districts, and ends in the CSRC area of Zhongyi Village, Daya, spanning c. 13.1 km. The greenway now links to the Central Taiwan Science Park bike network, becoming a favorite recreation spot for locals and visitors.
**Hong-Zhun-Tou Yi-Mi Temple**
Located at km 5.25 beside the greenway in Zhuanqian Village, Shen-Gang Dist., this rest stop is a must-pass for cyclists. Many outsiders mistake it for an Earth-God shrine, yet it bears historic traces and serves as a commemorative site. Surrounding pastoral views, plus quality bike/pedestrian lanes, make it a favorite strolling spot.
In 1747 the Huludun Irrigation Canal was completed, watering today’s Fengyuan, Shen-Gang, Tanzi, Daya, Beitun and Xitun. Migrants from Fujian and Guangdong clustered along its banks. Three branches ran east–west: Tiao-Tiao (Fu-Zhun), Er-Tiao (Central Canal), and San-Tiao (Heng-Shan Canal), still locally called “Red Canal” after the red soil first cut. The upper end became “Hong-Zhun-Tou.”
During the 1786 Lin Shuang-wen uprising, Hakka militia led by Li Qiao-ji defended the north village while nearby Hoklo settlements at “Hong-Zhun-Tou” suffered heavy losses; bones are said to lie beneath the temple mound. Thereafter “Hong-Zhun-Tou” faded into history. The temple itself broke ground in June 2006 and finished that year; surrounding landscape works were completed in July 2020. The main deity is Lord Yi-Min.
