Taichung enjoys a pleasant climate and a one-of-a-kind parkway system. In recent years it has vigorously promoted dedicated bike lanes, integrating diverse living functions and planning cycling routes that combine culture, emotion, and tourism. The Dongguang Parkway bike path is part of Taichung’s city-wide leisure cycling network; this segment starts from Taiyuan Station, letting riders follow the Western Trunk Line and chase the train through the wind. It then turns into the Hanxi Old Street district, where the historic Lecheng Temple—ranked among the city’s four major Mazu temples—stands. With centuries of history, Lecheng Temple is a designated municipal monument.
Riding along Dongguang Parkway, cyclists are shaded year-round by dense Chinese olives; the tall trees cast a broad canopy, making this stretch the coolest and most comfortable section of the entire city loop. Ideal for family outings, the path also leads riders to Dazhi Park and Dongfeng Park, and, after passing through towering blackboard-tree groves, connects to National Chung Hsing University.
