The New屋 Beachside Botanical Garden is located at the former site of the Yong'an Snow Forest Recreation Area, covering an area of approximately 6 hectares. Since the closure of the recreation area, it has become a habitat for various plants and animals. After a year-long survey by the Coastal Management Engineering Office of our government, it was found that there are as many as 250 species of plants and animals living in the area, which has the value of forest recreation, ecological conservation, and environmental education. Therefore, the idle land was revitalized to become the first beachside botanical garden in Taoyuan, which was officially opened to the public on October 19, 2020. Although Taoyuan is an industrial cluster, it is also committed to protecting the coastal ecosystem. The botanical garden has a rich variety of plant and animal species and natural forests. These include beachside plants such as Casuarina, Hibiscus tiliaceus, and native species like Derris scandens, as well as mammals like the red-bellied squirrel and the skunk, and protected bird species like the black-winged kite, the Brahminy kite, and the little tern. In the future, it will be combined with local communities, schools, and NGOs to provide various services, constructing an ecological demonstration site centered on environmental education. In addition to natural ecology, the park has also developed a "New屋 Beachside Botanical Garden APP" game program for students and parent-child groups. Through eco-guided tours and various experience activities, it creates an educational ecological environment that allows the public to experience nature and ecological education under environmentally friendly conditions. The park is planned to be built with minimal human disturbance and construction. There are no artificial light sources inside, and the entrance sign is made from driftwood from the beach. The old hardware facilities have been removed, and the weeds around the trails have been cleared. Visitors can walk through the forest and enjoy its different appearances. In the botanical garden, you can see various mechanisms of beachside plants that are resistant to wind and drought, such as the beach morning glory with fluffy seeds that can be used as spices, the beach pea used for cooking and seasoning, and the hairy Portulaca that is drought-resistant. The New屋 Beachside Botanical Garden is located near Yong'an Fishing Harbor, Houhu Creek, the Sea Snail Cultural Experience Park, and the Youth Experience Park. It is also within the scope of the Xinwu Oceanic Hakka Leisure Agricultural Zone. In the future, it can be combined with surrounding attractions to drive the development of the eco-tourism industry, increase employment opportunities, and stimulate economic activities, promoting the balanced development of tourism and recreation along the Yong'an Fishing Harbor.
