Located in Touwu Township, the Loreto Shrine of Our Lady was completed on March 25, 2007. Similar to the original in Italy, it is the third of its kind in the world and the only one in Asia. It is a pilgrimage site for Catholics. The original Loreto Shrine of Our Lady in Italy is a Catholic shrine that attracts nearly a million pilgrims from around the world each year. In Catholicism, it is believed to be the relocated residence of the Virgin Mary from Nazareth, Israel, where she was chosen by God to become the mother of Jesus. The bricks and tiles of the shrine are said to have been touched by Jesus as a child and have been moved to the Italian Loreto Shrine for devotees to venerate. Apart from the shrine, the garden scenery here is equally impressive. A stone sculpture of Our Lady stands at the entrance, seemingly welcoming visitors. The tidy environment and European-style architecture are filled with exotic charm, making it well worth a visit to experience firsthand.
