My hometown, Linwei
"My hometown Linwei" is one of the new ventures of the current owner of Yongfutang, Brother Chen. Brother Chen says he had struggled in mainland China for a long time; looking back, he still feels that Taiwan is a place where he wants to keep working hard. After returning to Taiwan, he thought about what he could do, and happened to see a patch of land in his family that was overgrown with weeds. He decided to plant Hylocereus.
The story of "My hometown Linwei" began nearly 170 years ago with Yongfutang, the oldest building in Jiji Township. When Brother Chen returned to his hometown, he remembered carefree memories of childhood—catching loaches in the fields, fishing frogs, roasting sweet potatoes, feeding crickets, catching butterflies. Those memories sparked his desire to return home after many years away and further strengthened Brother Chen's belief in starting anew here.
Close to nature and hometown flavor
After learning from many places, Brother Chen began to try his hand at cultivation. Not only are the source materials reassuringly visible, but he also feels confident about what he eats. In addition to cultivating non‑toxic, organic Hylocereus, he has developed Hylocereus pastries, cookies, juice, jam, and… tears of a goddess!
In Jiji’s “My hometown Linwei”, there are also DIY activities such as picking Hylocereus to make jam, pickles, and other experiences. This time, the ruby jam refers to Hylocereus.
